All Tied Up- Bow Ties

Bowties

All Tied Up 1 – Henry A. Davidsen

Mark your calendars gentlemen, because it’s time to show some love to the bow ties in the back of your closets. National Bow Tie Day, August 28th, is right around the corner and we wouldn’t want you to miss it. But besides debuting this dapper accessory on its national holiday, we’re here to teach you how to incorporate a bow tie into your everyday outfit rotation.

The days of wearing neckwear strictly as formal attire are long gone, and nowadays wearing a bow tie is typically left to the sophisticated sir in the tux or the fashion risk-taker of the 21st century. But why? The ties are a simple way to add another dimension to your look. Classic standards and clean-cut options are strong signature pieces, but designs have been revamped for those confident men willing to step outside the traditional box.

Don’t be afraid to go for a pattern. It’s always great to have standard options such as black and white in your collection, but make sure to incorporate designs like stripes, florals, and patterns. New Options

To start getting ready for the fall season, we’ve selected an Edward Armah reversible bow tie offering a forest green base with red flower detail on one side and hints of bold red and yellow plaid on the other. Green color tones are great for every season, which makes it a no brainer that Greenery is Pantone’s 2017 color of the year.  The inclusion of red and yellow accent colors will help you add styling options to your outfit. When it comes to choosing an accent color, our goal is to provide versatility but also give you the bold look to really stand out.

A perfect complement to the Edward Armah tie is the red VKNAGRANI cashmere cotton socks; and to finish up the look, a silver and red Tateossian Novelty Pin that continues to play on the bold color choice of red. This styling is adventurous but still provides you with a polished look that is well thought out.

Bow Tie Origins

The accessory has Croatian roots dating back to the 17th century. Not known as a bow tie, the ancestry of today’s modern neckwear was called a cravat. When well- to-do men of the Upper French class started wearing them, popularity grew. At the end of its evolution we were left with what we now call, a bow tie.

According to The Bow Tie “The bow tie first entered the scene as a new style of necktie in the beginning of the 19th century; a modification of its predecessor, the cravat. By the mid-1880s, the accessory had become a staple in the fashion conscious man’s wardrobe.”

Present day, the bow tie has embodied a more relaxed feel. Men of fashion have styled the ties in formal wear, office wear, and street casual wear. Men in a the iconic tie radiate confidence, sophistication, and a hint rebellion. It’s simply about selecting a design you enjoy and owning your look.
