Henry A. Davidsen partnered with the Union League of Philadelphia to host the Kick Off Event for The Second Annual Henry A. Davidsen Master Tailors & Image Consultants Suit Drive benefiting Back on My Feet and Menzfit on Wednesday, November 17 at the Union League of Philadelphia.
Henry A. Davidsen’s three-month suit drive project yielded about 700 different pieces of menswear for the two organizations.
Guests were asked to donate a suit or other professional men’s attire and were treated to complimentary Bluecoat cocktails and butlered hors d’oeuvres. Suit donors received a 20 percent discount on new custom tailored suits purchased from Henry A. Davidsen. A second Happy Hour was held at Ladder 15 on January 25th.
The Suit Drive was sponsored by Henry A. Davidsen Master Tailors & Image Consultants, American Male, Bluecoat, Gloss PR, SAP, St. Edmonds Savings Bank, Kistler Tiffany Benefits and the Camden Riversharks.
American Male Salon, SAP, and St. Edmund’s Federal Bank graciously acted as hosts for drop-off locations for those who wished to donate a suit without attending the happy hours.
BACK ON MY FEET (www.backonmyfeet.org) is a nonprofit organization that promotes the self-sufficiency of homeless populations by engaging them in running as a means to build confidence, strength and self-esteem. The organization does not provide food or shelter, but instead provides a community that embraces equality, respect, discipline, teamwork and leadership. The organization consists of much more than just running: members participate in a comprehensive program that offers connections to job training, employment and housing. Those benefits are earned by maintaining 90 percent attendance at the morning runs three days a week for our six to nine month program. Back on My Feet has chapters in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Boston, and Chicago.
MENZFIT (www.menzfit.org) is an educational non-profit organization that helps disadvantaged men- largely minorities with little formal education, gain long-term employment and financial fitness by preparing them for re-entry into the workforce. They provide clients with interview-appropriate clothing, as well as offer skills training, coaching, career development services and financial literacy.
