This year’s AICI conference hosted 276 attendees from 29 countries including Brazil, Australia, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, and South Africa. The conference gives members an opportunity to learn from the best and most seasoned image consultants from around the world. Featuring 6 pre-conference and 3 mid-conference 3-hour workshops, as well as 24 2-hour concurrent sessions (choice of attending 6), the opportunity for education from image experts is the best available. At this year’s conference, Lipstein, for the first time on the international level, instructed one of the concurrent sessions. His seminar, “Men’s Image and Tailored Clothing,” was presented to a packed house. One image consultant from Alberta Canada stated, “My inspiration for traveling to conference this year was to take Mr. Lipstein’s class, in order to expand my own practice back home.”
The class covered everything from the history and origin of the modern suit through today’s current fashion trends. Much of the focus however was on the more technical aspects of tailoring and using image techniques to steer away from fashion and create personal style. Fabrics, weaves, and textiles were also covered in the presentation. After the conference, Lipstein stated, “I enjoy the opportunity to share what I have learned with my colleagues in the image industry. So much of the focus within AICI is on working with women, it was energizing to see the interest from members in menswear. I look forward to continuing to be a leader in Men’s Image within AICI.”
Next year’s conference will be held in Honolulu, HI from May 23-27, 2012. Visit www.aici.org for more information about the association – THE source for Image Professionals.
