Philadelphia’s Final Weeks of Summer Checklist

As June and July seem to have flown by and the joy of football season around the corner, we are left with just a few more weeks of summer. To help you make the most of this warm Philadelphia weather, the team at Henry A. Davidsen have created the ultimate final weeks of summer guide.

  • 2nd Street Festival
From Germantown to Spring Garden, the food trucks are getting ready for this Sunday’s Northern Liberties event. Featuring 3 stages, 8 beer gardens and 250 + vendors, there’s no denying that you should free up your Sunday to attend. With a predicted forecast of 83 degrees and sunny, a day with the boys grubbing and drinking Philly street-food style is the ideal end to summer 2017.
  • Spruce Street Harbor
Now through October 1st, you can lounge water-front at one of Philadelphia’s favorite pop-ups. The harbor is open weekdays 11am-11pm and FridaySaturday until 1 am where you can enjoy mouthwatering bites; like tacos, crab fries, and specialty craft beers. The atmosphere offers a mix of foodie love with a hippie vibe, perfect for a low-key day or night. So gather up the gents, and head on over to grab a hammock and a spot in line to play some corn hole.
  • Kelly Drive
In need of some greenery? Kelly Drive is the perfect city escape. Tackle a good workout on the bike path or recreate the classic and give those Rocky steps a try. If you’re looking for something more on the relaxing side, a date idea perhaps, grab a bottle of wine and a blanket to enjoy the fresh air and green grass before the weather changes.
  • Made in America
It’s back! September 2nd & 3rd, throw on your best festival apparel (preferably USA themed) and hit The Parkway to party it up with musical artists like Jay-Z, Cash Cash, and The Chainsmokers. The two-day event hosted by Budweiser is a Philadelphia end of summer signature and enough of a party to keep you content during those cold winter months.
  • Pop Up Beer Gardens
Philadelphians love a garden……. beer garden that is. If you were unable to enjoy a few drinks at these summer only venues, you have a few more weeks to make the most of what you’ve been missing out on. Pop-ups like South Street Beer Garden (15th & South) and uCity Square (36th & Filbert) are perfect off the Sips radar locations to explore. With Philly favorites like Uptown Beer Garden and Independence Beer Gardens always being good options. We can all agree sometimes it’s a little more pleasant to just grab a table with some friends, relax, and maybe play some fun games like Jenga or Connect 4.
So with the final weeks of summer upon us, as we try to soak up the last bit of outdoor venues and adventures, stop by and visit us at Henry A. Davidsen to make sure you’re dressed to impress for the 2017 summer crowd.
