Top New Years Resolutions To Improve Your Image

So here we are – it’s 2022. It’s the time of year where many of us come up with New Year’s resolutions, and this year is no different. We know the importance of image, and we like our resolutions to focus on that. Below are our top New Year’s resolutions to improve your image.

The ideas below have certainly been tried by many of the years with mixed success. We’re going to dive deeper into them and explore how they relate to our image, and not just in a surface-level way.

Exercise

If you want to join a gym, we encourage you to do so, but that’s not the point we’re trying to make.

Physical exercise has manifold benefits, many of which tie into your image. The most obvious benefit is that exercise will make you look better – it doesn’t get much more on-the-nose than this. Whether you want to add muscle, lose fat, or just get more toned, exercise is how you get there.

A man named Deion Luwynn Sanders, Sr. once said, “When you look good, you feel good. When you feel good, you play good. When you play good, they pay good.” It’s a snappy quip, but it’s deep, too. Physical exercise makes you feel good. It releases endorphins that improve your mood and reduce stress, and guess what? These benefits will positively impact your behavior, which will positively impact how people respond to you.

You don’t necessarily need to join a gym. Do some push-ups. Buy some sneakers and start running. Anything to get the blood flowing and give yourself a sense of accomplishment no matter how small.

Eat Better & Be Healthier

Let’s be clear – we do not advocate for fad diets or other junk science. What we do advocate for, however, is to make small, positive changes in what you eat. These positive changes have a similar effect on your person as exercise – they make you feel better. As a result, your behavior and communication will improve, which means that people will treat you differently, for the better.

If you have access to a dietician, by all means take advantage. If not, just try some simple steps that would work well for anyone – cut out soda, try one meatless day a week, that sort of thing.

If you haven’t yet, stop smoking cigarettes. Some of the guys on our team are former smokers, and they can tell you from the other side that there’s simply no benefit to it. It’s all risk, no reward.

Re-Evaluate Your Wardrobe

If you haven’t done so yet, now is a great time to take a look in your closet and do a good evaluation. How many articles of clothing do you own that meet the following criteria:

  • It fits well
  • It’s in good condition
  • You enjoy wearing it

Chances are there’s plenty in your closet that doesn’t fit these criteria. We can help you make these determinations as well – give us a call at 215-310-0219 or email info@henrydavidsen.com to get started. Until then, happy 2022!
